  124.   to black and white.  This option was added primarily to support Braille
  125.   users with EGA video.  This option will work in conjunction with other
  126.   -v option switches.

  129.   DiscPassage in the following manner:

  132.   in order to view text properly on an EGA display, in black and white.

  162.   There is now a -vtextonly commandline option to suppress all images.  This
  163.   allows proper operation of EGA video cards, which may have had split text
  164.   displays (the new SVGA detection was the culprit).  This switch can also
  165.   be useful when running on a dual monitor system (say, both SVGA and MDA)
  166.   when text-only operation is desired.  Use this option as follows:

  176.   Support has been added for the newer Trident video cards with 1 Megabyte

  183. . Memory Usage
  184.   DiscPassage now uses virtual memory, so it will automatically take
  185.   advantage of any expanded or extended memory on your system.  It is
  186.   *very important* that you run the SETUP.EXE program provided with your
  187.   floppy update.  In particular, the software depends on an environment
  188.   variable, TMP, for its use of virtual memory.  This variable should be
  189.   set to a *writable* location.  If you run DiscPassage from the dp.bat
  190.   file (copied by SETUP to the root of your hard drive), you should not
  191.   experience any problems.

  193.   The SETUP.EXE program will now create the appropriate commands in
  194.   dp.bat which set up the TMP environment string for proper execution.
  195.   However, if you have no environment space left, you may need to set TMP
  196.   yourself in your autoexec.bat, as follows:

  198.     set TMP=c:\discpass
  199.  
  200.   with a writable location for the software to use during its operation
  201.   (i.e. it cannot be set to the CD-ROM drive).

  203.   If you want to increase the size of your environment space (the default
  204.   size is 128 bytes for MS-DOS), you can add the following line to your
  205.   config.sys file:

  207.     shell = c:\command.com /e:1024 /p
  208.  
  209.   where c:\ is the location of command.com, and you wish to increase the
  210.   environment size to 1024 bytes.

  212. . Packed File Support
  213.   DiscPassage now supports large numbers of files on disc, and allows for
  214.   files to live in 'packages' for more efficient operation on MS-DOS.  This
  215.   operation is completely transparent to the operation of the software.
  216.   The benefit to you as a user is more efficient retrieval of files from
  217.   CD-ROM, in cases where a large number of files is present on disc.

  219. . Pioneer Audio Fix
  220.   Forcing an alternate drive letter from the command-line, for multi-drive
  221.   units such as the Pioneer 6-disc changer (DRM-600), would only play
  222.   audio selections for subsequent discs (not the first selected, if it was
  223.   not the first drive letter on the system).  Audio is now functional for
  224.   all drive letters, even when the drive-override from command-line option
  225.   is used.  You need to have version 1.03 or greater of the Pioneer driver.
